Xiaomi fans will receive the perfect New Year present in 2021 as the China-based electronics company is all set to launch a cheaper variant of its Mi 10 model on January 5.

The announcement was made on the company’s official Twitter handle, which featured a 10-second video and a post which said, “A perfect start to the new year. #ThePerfect10. Guess what's coming and 10 lucky winners stand a chance to win #Mi goodies perfect for all you enthusiasts. A hint is in the video.”

A Possible Variation of the Mi 10T Lite?

The teaser trailer, although incredibly short, leaves the fans asking for more. The video showcases the new Xiaomi budget smartphone's back panel, flaunting a quad-camera set up with a flash.

But what is more incredible is the 108 MP camera that is likely to be a big selling point of this new model. Toward the end of the video, we get a small glimpse - a flash - as the screen transitions from ‘The Perfect 10’ to ‘108’ for a split second. The video ends with the launch date of the phone - January 5, 2021.

At the moment, Mi 10 exists for us Indians but at a whopping ~Rs.45,000, according to Xiaomi’s website. Looking at the video, the model looks awfully similar to the Mi 10T Lite recently launched in other parts of the world. It is also considerably cheaper than its Mi 10 counterpart, making it ideal for India.

There is a very high possibility that the Mi 10T Lite will be rebranded into a different name for the Indian market. But is it just the rebranding or something more altogether?

Powerful Specs, Powerful Camera

Going by the specifications mentioned on the Mi 10T Lite website, the model features a 64 MP main camera, supported by three other camera lenses with varying degrees of power. Photography fans can indulge in their passion with an 8 MP ultrawide lens, 2 MP depth sensor, and a 2 MP macro sensor. For selfie lovers, there’s a powerful 16 MP front, in-display camera.

Now, if we are to take the Twitter announcement into consideration, there is a strong possibility that this 64 MP camera will be replaced by a 108 MP lens. More value for the same money?

But that’s not all, folks! The mobile core is built around Qualcomm's Snapdragon 750G chipset, supported further by Adreno 619 GPU. To put this in layman’s terms, it is a smart computer in the palm of your hands.

The phone also supports 5G network and features dual-SIM connectivity - something that has become an integral requirement in today’s smartphones. This budget smartphone comes with a 4,820 mAh battery with a 33W fast charger as for battery life. In other words, you can use this phone to your heart’s content without running out of juice soon.

Easy on the Pocket

Xiaomi’s Mi 10T Lite is the ultimate pocket-friendly smartphone for gamers, online betting fans who love to bet on the go, streamers, and social media enthusiasts who enjoy scrolling for hours. Its large, clear display and a powerful core will definitely give its rivals a good run for their money.

Here's the best part - the phone currently costs ~£200 in the United Kingdom (~Rs.20,000), which is certainly a steal for a smartphone of this calibre. Of course, we can expect this pricing to be slightly lower (or remain the same for India), considering the upgrade on the camera we are likely to get.
